Girl Scouting
Girl Scouts is the world's preeminent
organization dedicated solely to girls—all girls—where, in an accepting
and nurturing
environment, girls build character and skills for success
in the real world.
In partnership with committed adults, girls develop qualities that will
serve them all their lives—like strong values, social conscience, and
conviction about their own potential and self-worth. In Girl Scouts,
girls discover
the fun, friendship, and power of girls together. Through the many enriching
experiences provided by Girl Scouts, they can grow courageous and
strong.

Girl Scout Information
Girl Scouting is a movement that
gives girls from all segments of American life a chance to develop their
potential, make friends, and become a vital part of their community. Based
on ethical values, Girl Scouting opens a world of opportunity for girls,
working in partnership with adult volunteers. Girl Scouting's sole purpose
is to meet the unique needs of girls. Membership is open to all girls, ages
5 through 17, who subscribe to the ideals stated in the Girl Scout Promise
and Law.
Girl Scouts of the USA is the largest voluntary organization for girls in the world, with more than three and one-half million members. It is part of a worldwide family of girls and adults in 136 countries through its membership in the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. There are over 300 Girl Scout councils nationwide with individual council membership varying from a few thousand to over 37,000.
The Girl Scout Program isan adventure
in learning that offers activities which address both girls' current interests
and their future roles as women. As girls participate in the Girl Scout
Program, their skills and self-confidence grow. They also have fun, make
new friends, and acquire understanding about themselves and others through
meaningful community service.
The Purpose of the Girl Scout Movement: To inspire girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism, and service, that they may become happy and resourceful citizens.
The Girl Scout Promise:
On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
The Girl Scout Law:
I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.
